Russia Strikes Ukraine Logistics Sites

MOSCOW, Aug. 11 — Russia’s Defence Ministry said Tuesday that its forces carried out overnight strikes on military-related transport and logistics centers in Kyiv and on a major iron and steel plant in Zaporizhzhia that it said was supporting Ukraine’s war effort.

Ukrainian officials said the attacks killed six people and injured 20 in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia and triggered fires in Kyiv. Both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians.

The Russian Defence Ministry said it struck the Nova Poshta sorting complex in Kyiv, which it said was used to store and distribute dual-use goods. According to the ministry, those goods included components for producing long- and medium-range drones, robotic systems and electronic warfare equipment.

Russia also said it struck the Kyiv-3 transport and logistics center, describing it as a large warehouse complex storing attack drones, ground control stations and related components.

In Zaporizhzhia, the ministry said its strikes hit the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant, part of Metinvest Group. Russia described the facility as a major producer of flat-rolled steel used to manufacture protective structures, fortification modules, armor for military vehicles and plates for body armor.

The Russian Defence Ministry also said its forces intercepted or destroyed 396 Ukrainian drones across 15 Russian regions overnight.
