WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two U.S. service members were killed and one was injured on Tuesday following a vehicle accident near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, the Joint Task Force Souther Border said.
The injured service member is in serious condition at a local medical facility, it added.
The accident, which took place near the United States' border with Mexico, is under investigation, according to the Joint Task Force Souther Border.
U.S. President Donald Trump deployed troops to the southern border shortly after taking office in January, a move to clamp down on immigration in keeping with a campaign promise.
