TORONTO, July 27 — At least one shot was fired outside the U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto early Monday, but no injuries were reported, police said.

It was the second shooting incident outside the building in the past four months.

Police officers alerted by the sound of a gunshot found evidence that a weapon had been fired outside the consulate on University Avenue.

Police said in a post on X that a white sedan was seen fleeing the scene. A Reuters reporter at the location said officers had sealed off the immediate area.

Several shots were fired at the same building on March 10. That incident followed three separate shootings targeting synagogues in the Toronto area.

In June, police said young people in the Toronto area were being paid to shoot at various targets, including synagogues, Jewish schools and the U.S. Consulate. Police did not provide additional details at the time.
